Return - Shuva

I created this piece in honor of the return of the hostages Monday, October 13, 2025. The yellow ribbon represents the symbol worn over the last two years in solidarity with the hostages. The blue represents the waters of the Negev described in Psalm 126, and our tears turning to laughter, and the freedom of an open blue sky. The piece seems to be floating or taking flight, like a bird spreading its wings, and flowers bloom in reference to the renewal and growth, the return of life after a deathly fate. Along the blue edges of the ribbon are the words “ufduyey Hashem yeshuvun u’va’u Tzion berina” - And God’s ransomed shall return, And come with shouting to Zion; and “veshavu banim ligvulam” - Your children shall return to their country.

Watercolor markers, and paint markers on paper. Verses from Tehillim 126, Yishayahu 35:10, and Yirmiyahu 31:17.
