A BRIEF VISUAL HISTORY

How can you sum up one hundred and fifty years of a history in one small book?

This project’s vision morphed with time from a short pamphlet with black and white photos to an 88-page coffee table book, alive with photographs, documents, and quotes, woven together to tell a powerful story. A team of clergy, archival researchers, volunteers, and administrative staff worked to gather the text content and images, culled from both physical and digital archives, to accurately and sufficiently depict the legacy of KJ, an establishment with an impressive reputation. Images were carefully narrowed down and ordered in a way that truly told a story, and the layout followed suit. This book was part of KJ’s project to celebrate its 150th anniversary, and it premiered and was gifted to patrons at the Sesquicentennial Annual Dinner.
